The term même can be an adjective, a pronoun, an argumentative connective or a constituent element of certain idioms. For each type of même, there are several possible uses, hence the problems involved in translating it into Italian. To provide translators with clear and comprehensive information on this term, we have described the different uses of même, each accompanied by its most frequent translations, taken from a rich bilingual parallel corpus of contemporary prose texts.
