BORGHESE NUNZIO ALBERTO

N.Alberto Borghese has graduated magna cum laude in 1986 in Electrical Engineering from Politecnico of Milan. He has been tenured researcher at CNR from 1987 to 2000, and Associated and then Full Professor at the Department of Computer Science of UNIMI, where he directs the Laboratory of Applied Intelligent Systems. His research activity is based on development and testing on real problem, methods and algorithms based on computational intelligence, with a particular attention to limited processing time. He has developed innovative predictive methods based on multi-scale hierarchical neural networks, adaptive clustering and methods for statistical data processing.
Recently, he has applied his research experience to realize innovative platforms for e-Health and e-Welfare that integrate exer-games, Artificial Intelligence, service robots, virtual communities and smart objects.
He has co-authored more than 90 journal papers (h index = 44), more than 140 refereed conference papers, and he holds 16 international patents.
His research has been largely financed by the industry and public bodies. He has been coordinator of the projects financed by the EC: FITREHAB (InterRegIVC, 2009-2011), REWIRE (FP7, 2011-2015), MOVECARE (H2020, 2017-2019) and of the project AIRCA (2023-2025) financed by MIUR (PRIN 2022). He has also been partenrs of the projects Robocare (2001-2004) and SI_Robotics (2019-2022) financed by MIUR; and of the project ESSENCE (H2020, 2020-2023), financed by the EC-
