The aim of this research project is to contribute to the practical improvement of school services management. This goal will be pursued by:
a) mapping and exploring the drivers and dimensions of inequality in public education;
b) exploring the perceived impact of existing service management strategies;
c) producing evidence-based recommendations to inform policy-making and management interventions in public education that aim to foster students’ inclusion. We will address this topic through an innovative, multi-disciplinary research.
This adopts an intersectional approach that considers several potential dimensions of inequality - specifically family ethnic background and gender considering the family cultural background and the specific territorial location in the suburban areas of a large city in Northern Italy. In terms of methodology, the research project embraces a mixed-method approach. Finally, the project will be developed in close contact with policymakers, so to build shared research agendas to promote inclusive public education.
