Description

Associate professor of Agricultural Microbiology AGR/16 (University of Milano). Ph.D. in Agricultural Ecology. She teaches General and Environmental Microbiology for Bachelor, Master and PhD School. Coordinator of MIMET centre - microbial electrochemical technologies research centre at UNIMI. Member of the Italian Society for Food, Agricultural and Environmental Microbiology and of the Society for General Microbiology (UK). Hosted in European Institutions: Soil Microbiology (National Institute of Agronomy, INRA, France); Microbial Molecular Ecology (University of Reading, UK). Guest Scientist at the Department of Biotechnology (TU-Delft, NL) (2010-2012). Mentor of more than 60 Bachelor-, Master- and PhD-students, 3 young promising and 9 post-doc fellows.
PI of 1 international and 5 national projects, 3 industrial consultancies and responsible of research unit in 4 national projects. Investigator in 23 national and in 4 international programs. Italian representative to the European Union COST Action ES1103, Microbial ecology & the earth system: collaborating for insight and success with the new generation of sequencing tools.
RESEARCH ACTIVITY
Microbial processes in terrestrial and aquatic environments: i) Arsenic Microbiology in plant rhizosphere and ground waters; ii) Microbial biogeochemical cycles in soil and water; iii) Biodegradation of Organic Compounds; iv) Plant Growth Promoting bacteria; v) Microbial-Assisted Heavy Metal Resistance and Removal from industrial wastewater; vi) Dechlorination of chlorinated solvents; vii) Microbial Electrochemical Technologies.
