The research deals with analyzing the components of a waste product from the production of soy milk, in order to identify and characterize possible molecules with biostimulant properties and useful in the biodefense of crops. Multi-scale characterization of physiological and biochemical interactions between water scarcity and biostimulants in horticulture. The aim of the research is to characterize the biochemical and physiological responses during water scarcity in rocket and to analyze the effects of a biostimulant formulation, through an integrated approach that considers different scales of investigation and the use of non-destructive, biochemical and proteomic analyses. Study of biochemical responses in arboreal plants to abiotic stress. The research was developed by deepening the responses in differnt grapevine rootstocks to water stress and salinity, in order to understand the biochemical traits associated with tolerance and to selecte new genotypes. Study of fruit ripening in fruit tree species. The study carried out through proteomics and metabolomics approaches examined different biochemical aspects concerning fruit ripening and influencing quality and nutraceutical value, in grapevine and stone fruits. (2005 - 2018)

Study of nitrogen nutrition in cereals. The research line is developed through the application of proteomic and metabolomic approaches for the study of biochemical responses in maize to conditions of availability of nitrate and ammonium. (2004 - )

Study of secondary metabolism in plant species of herbal, food and ornamental interest. The research is developed deepening biochemical aspects and regulation of secondary metabolism, with particular attention to the metabolites of the class of flavonoids. (2009 - )

Valorization of the wastewater from raw silk processing to obtain biostimulant useful for the production of high added-value products. The research aims to study wastewater, rich in a particular protein called sericin, define its composition and safety, and evaluate its effectiveness as biostimulant for overcoming water and nutritional deficiencies during fresch-cut leafy vegetables cultivayion and in viticulture.
