Lost in Transition. Informazione e giornalismo nell’Albania (post-)socialista

The article aims to explore the fields of news media and journalism in Albania, through the theoretical analysis and the empirical research produced by the Albanian media and journalism studies scholarship. The key news media outlets in Albania are owned by private companies which use and finance them primarily to promote their own interests. Therefore, to a certain degree, Albanian news media are reduced to functioning as an instrument of those who own and finance them. The main consequence of this phenomenon is a media that is weak on information, a product of journalists lacking professionalism and for the most part conditioned by the private interests of the owners.
