Realismo e mainstream society : alcuni problemi dell’arcipelago liberale aggiornato [Realism and “Mainstream Society”: Some Problems of the Liberal Archipelago ]

The article focuses on Domenico Melidoro’s proposal of how to deal with diversity within a democratic society from a liberal perspective. Here, I highlight some possible difficulties with his view, in particular with respect to its realism and the concept of mainstream society it advances. In a nutshell, I argue that there is a tension between the minimal framework from which such perspective departs, which aims to be minimal and realist in character, and its normative and political aspirations.
