Efficacia e tollerabilita del ceftibuten nel trattamento delle esacerbazioni batteriche della bronchite cronica in una popolazione anziana

117 patients suffering for bacterial exacerbation of chronic bronchitis were treated with ceftibuten, a new orally administered cephalosporin, at the dosage of 400 mg once a day for 7.9 days (range 5-14). The results, referring to 105 evaluable patients, underline ceftibuten's efficacy (good clinical results in 96.1% of 102 treated patients) and safety; before and after treatment values of spirometric tests were notable in terms of improvement of lung functions.
