Abstract:
We discuss some anomalies of the received view concerning propositional logic, semantic information and the meaning of the logical operators. We show that a weaker “informational” approach to the meaning of the logical operators (that was anticipated by W.V.O. Quine) and a corresponding deduction system in the style of natural deduction provides a natural solution to one of these anomalies that is knwon, after Hintikka, as “the scandal of deduction” and looks promising also for the others.
