The first synthesis of the N-glucosyl analogue of the antitumor agent etoposide

The first synthesis of 1-aminoglucose analogue of the antitumor agent etoposide is accomplished by condensation of 4,6-tO-ethylidene-2,3-di-tO-trimethylsilyl-β-D-glucopyranosylamine with 4-bromo-4-deoxy-4′-demethylepipodophyllotoxin in the presence of Hg(CN)2.
