The large-N magnetization in matrix models revisited

We analyse the large-N limit of a matrix model with quartic self-interaction and external scalar field, by the technique of orthogonal polynomials. The rise of a «spontaneous magnetization» is studied and compared with the previous known results, based on saddle point integration or Schwinger-Dyson equations.
