Djad'ka byl zdorovennyj : obrazovanie i semantika suffiksal'nych form prevoschodnoj stepeni russkich prilagatel'nych: Opyt sopostavitel'nogo analiza

The article explores the features of of Russian adjectives superlative in a contrastive approach. Drawing on latest research in the field of intensification, the semantic and pragmatic characteristics of the suffix forms of the superlative are analyzed. Special attention is paid to the essential aspects of the semantics of adjectives in the formation of superlatives using various morphological means, as it happens in the Russian language. The analysis shows that the variety of suffixes serves to a certain extent for their semantic and pragmatic specialization, and that morphemes, traditionally referred to as means of elative expression, are actually able to perform the function of relative meaning. The comparison of the forms based on the data of the Russian-Italian parallel corpus confirms the results obtained in the first part of the analysis.
