Abstract:
Agility can be defined as the skill of keeping and controlling
the correct body position when changing rapidly directions
and with a variety of movements or as the skill of varying
suddenly speed and direction in response to specific stimuli.
It shows some elements belonging to coordination and
some to physical conditioning, with the sensible development
phases between 8 and 13 years. This skill is in large
demand in team sports (soccer and basketball) and in the
athletic disciplines where the motor control becomes fundamental
(jammer throw, pole vault, high jump), as well as
in javelin throw. One main component, often neglected, is
individual’s laterality. The Agility T-Test was chosen to evaluate
agility, because it evaluates bi-planar agility (frontal
and sagittal). From the results, it can be affirmed that agility
training improved with specific drills, as pointed out during
the execution of technical actions.
