abstract:
The respiratory disease is a major problem in pig farming, still aggravated by the economic crisis. In Italy, the longer duration of the production cycle increases the impact of the disease. The strategic medication is not a viable solution because of the excessive costs and individual therapy has become the only solution. However, there is the problem of the evaluation of the effectiveness and beneits than costs. We have compared two quinolones (marboloxacine 4% and enroloxacine 5 %) in the treatment of acute respiratory disease of growing-inishing cycle. Clinical symptoms have been assessed by assigning scores to killing, lack of appetite, coughing and dyspnea. The results were evaluated by statistical analysis. Marboloxacine 4% was most effective, with the regression of weakness and loss of appetite and limitation for weight loss. The reduction of economic damage has allowed obvious economic beneits compared to the costs of treatment. Although the clinical comparison gave similar results, with regression of the symptoms, functional recovery, better vitality and growth. In addition the lower dosage has reduced the cost of treatment. Finally, the suspension time is 6 days , compared with 10 days for the competitor.
