Aris, Namibia : Alkaline locality of global significance

The collaboration between AMI – Associazione Micromineralogica Italiana and the editor of Mineralien-Welt, Bode Verlag, gave birth to a publication concerning the alkaline mineralogy of the Aris quarries in the Italian magazine Micro (Jahn et al., 2015). The article was drawn up by GOM - Gruppo Orobico Minerali, which translated some articles appeared in Mineralien-Welt, adding analytical results on samples collected on site in 2011, during a GOM trip to Namibia. The success of the article led GOM and AMI to promote a translation in English language and transform it into an up-to-date booklet, addressed to quali-fied international mineral specialists, including information on the latest findings as well, as reported in a recent article in Mineralien-Welt, together with the analyses promoted by AMI. This is the first book dedicated to the Aris’ alkaline site, made possible also thanks to the collaboration of a large number of friends. It includes a CD with many pictures of specimens so as to help, as much as possible, the collectors of such a unusual and fascinating site.
