The article examines two modern authors, Namely Evelyn Waugh and Lloyd Jones, who stage Dickensian readings in a jungle, light years removed from the Victorian London. Stripped of its Victorian elements, Dickens's macrotext does not lose interest, but captivates readers who find it resonating with their own humanities.
