Problemi comportamentali nell'animale anziano : Behavioural problems in senior dogs

Older animals, as human old age patients, may develop a progressive brain disease associated with clinical signs of cognitive dysfunction. In veterinary medicine, even more than in human medicine, the problem is that often in pet animals it is not easy to define the boundaries between normal aging and cognitive impairment, making it difficult to achieve a correct diagnosis and undertake effective therapy. Before issuing this diagnosis, it is important to rule out any systemic or nervous system diseases that can represent alternative causes of cognitive impairment. The progress of the disease can be slowed down with appropriate behavioural, nutritional and pharmacological therapies.
