Public access to experimental treatments and its legal limits: the Italian case

The first part of my presentation will focus on the legal framework of the compassionate-use of drugs that are in the process of being tested for safety and efficacy. The second part will describe the jurisprudence of three Courts called to protect relevant rights and liberties that are embodied in the Italian Constitution, in the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights and in the European Convention of Human Rights. Finally, I’ll conclude with short considerations on the issue at stake.
