An integrated automatic traceability system for the salami swine meat chain based an RFID technology

In Europe, regulations do not impose the individual recognizing of swine. In Italy, a relevant part of the meet industry is evolving toward transformed products of high quality that require a secure certification of the meet origin. For this reason traceability system based on the individual swine recognizing are needed. In this frame a system based on RFID technology has been studied and developed. E-tags were used to identify: animals, hooks in the slaughtering line and meat cuts. All the products (salami, hams, etc.) are identified using RFID or 2D barcode in this way all the traceability data are available
