Previdenza contrattuale e fondi di solidarietà bilaterali

This paper sets out to provide an overview of the new bilateral funds – pursuant to Law No. 92/2012, Art. 3, par. 4-47 – and the solidarity funds for vocational re-training and upgrading of those working in the banking industry – as laid down by Act No.662/1996, Art. 2, (28). More specifically, the paper examines the main characteristics and possible developments of contractual arrangements within the welfare system,that is the set of provisions resulting from negotiations between the social partners,the aim of which is to fill the void left by the applicable legislation and safeguard the workers’ interests. Special attention is paid to workers facing a suspension of the employment contract, a reduction of working hours, or redundancy, as the ones most in need of social security.
