Abstract:
this contribution examines the role of founders on medieval and modern coins; for medieval city coinages in Italy the patron saint was formally founder of the Christian city and the example of st John the Baptist for Florence is here well studied. Broggini also presents new technical data resulting from the study of a hoard.
