In this paper we try to understand, through current national and international lit-erature and research conducted by Ismu, how immigrants interact with the national health care systems. In this chapter, we focus largely on the European literature, in order to collect some points of reflection of a more prospective than descriptive na-ture. Our attention, then, is directed at the older migrant population, given the fact that 2012 has been declared the “Year of Active Aging”. We then expand on the re-flections of some experts regarding the inequities of health and best means of imple-menting services. Third, some topics related to the utilization and evaluation of the national health care system by immigrants will be interpreted in light of current re-search conducted on Chinese and Filipino immigrants in Milan.
