Analysis of drug-resistant epileptic patients in an Epilepsy Center

We analyzed the characteristics of drug resistant patient of the Epilepsy Center at S. Paolo Hospital in Milan. We considered drug-resistant all the patients still having seizures in spite of correct single-drug therapies. Subjects classified as drug-resistant are 137 (8.6%), 118 of them with partial epilepsy (age 33.9 D.S. ± 13.4, age of onset 10.2 ± D.S. 8.8). We analyzed in detail the characteristics of patients with intractable partial epilepsies.
