Utilizzo del toltrazuril® nel controllo della coccidiosi del pollo da carne

Use of toltrazuril treatment for the control of broiler coccidiosis. This study was conducted to investigate the effect of a therapeutic medication with toltrazuril on the control of coccidiosis and broiler performance in the absence of coccidiostat-medicated feed. A total of 250 000 broilers from 3 different poultry farms were treated with toltrazuril at 7 mg/BW daily in the drinking water at 19 and 20 days of age. Oocyst monitoring in the faeces starting from the first week of age was carried out at weekly intervals until slaughter. The toltrazuril single treatment controlled coccidiosis and oocyst shedding which that decreased at 35 days of age. The results indicated that in case of early coccidiosis challenge, the treatment should be anticipated between 10-14 days to avoid early coccidiosis damage
