Economy and Zootechnical biodiversity: some reflections

The present work refers to zootechnical biodiversity in rural areas and focuses the attention on the necessity of giving the “diversity of life” a – shared – economic value, it being meant as a genetic heritage of species, breeds and varieties (Animal Genetic Resources) as utilized in agriculture. Our main objective is to prove, through the analysis of the current different methods to give biodiversity an economic value, that the success of the different supporting policy mainly depends on how spread the concept of its economic relaunching is: indeed, biodiversity and the development of the agro-industrial products may be a winning pair for the rural system
