Abstract:
A new chemoenzymatic synthesis of both enantiomers of mevalonolactone 1 starting from the Pseudomonas fluorescens lipase-catalyzed resolution of racemic 2-(3-methyl-2-butenyl)-oxiranemethanol 2 is reported.
