Post operative analgesic actions of flunixin in the cat

Two groups of 20 cats were administered either flunixin meglumine (1 mg/kg body weight, i.v.) or pethidine (3 mg/kg, i.v.) to compare their analgesic and sedative effects during the first 90 min after surgery. Similar levels of analgesia were obtained with both analgesics. Flunixin appeared to be efficient, adequate and with no side effects
