Influence of ion-size parameter selection on determinations of standard electromotive force for the hydrogen/silver-chloride cell in ethanol/water solvent mixtures

The std. emf. was detd. in a reversible cell e.g. Pt|H2 (1 atm.)|KHPh + KCl(aq. solvent)|AgCl|Ag|Pt where KHPh = K acid phthalate. Detns. were made in 0 to 70 wt. % EtOH/H2O solns. Also, std. thermodn. functions, ΔG°, ΔH°, ΔS° and ΔC° were calcd. for some of the EtOH/H2O solns. Also, the mean molal activity coeffs. for HCl at various temps. and molalities in the 70:30 alc./H2O soln. were detd.
