I Remondini di Bassano, il paese della cuccagna e le sfide della storia del libro

This essay focuses on the importance of Mario Infelise’s research on the Remondini publishers and their production for studies on cheap print. Both the 1980 book and the catalogue of the exhibition and conference – held in Bassano del Grappa in 1990 – were a crucial reference for research in the following decades. They laid the foundations for a comparative approach including cheap print in other European areas, in particular with scholarship on the French Bibliothèque bleue, inaugurated in the 1980s by Roger Chartier. Infelise’s works on the Remondini publishers have already shown a strong focus on the theme of intermediality, today the object of numerous studies.
