Abstract:
The San Pietro Mosezzo (NO) site, which was discovered in 2001 during the construction of a methane pipeline, is situated in the Novara plain on the right bank of the Agogna river. The area was characterized in the past by a complex hydrographic network and river meanders. Thanks to the recent revision of the available documentation, new information has been provided. It can be hypothesized that there was an organized settlement, possibly on a natural hillock, of significant dimensions and longevity. The archaeological finds allow us to place it between an early phase of the Middle Bronze Age and the early stages of the recent Bronze Age. The evidence identified on the site also allows us to reconstruct that, perhaps as early as its activation, there were active practices of extraction, regimentation and derivation of the water indicated in a macroscopic way by the remains of a spring system. The paper illustrates the main aspects of these reconstructions and offers a preliminary classification of the materials.
