Studiosi stranieri nel Dodecaneso italiano: osservazioni preliminari

this chapter investigates the presence of non-Italian scholars in the Dodecanese Islands during the Italian occupation of the archipelago. By doing so, it intends to outline part of the networks that – despite a substan- tially autarchic regime – linked the Italian archaeologists who were active in the area to the international scientific community. attention is paid to those who attended the 1928 rhodes International congress, to local scholars (in particular the representatives of the chaviaras family and Iakovos zarraftis), and to the architect albert gabriel.
