Rappresentare l'Arca di Noè nel medioevo: la dicotomia tra esegesi e iconografia, la dinamica tra nord e sud Europa

My paper takes as its starting point a contribution by Rossana Guglielmetti and Paolo Chiesa, entitled The Other Noah. The Bible through the filter of the Universal Chronicles (Print run). Rossana Guglielmetti focuses on the ark and the attempts to restore its shape, size and functionality starting from Gen 6:14-16, and dwelling on Hugh of St Victor's De archa Noe (1126 or shortly after) and Peter Comestore's Historia scholastica (around 1170). On the basis of these considerations, as an art historian I propose a comparison between the exegesis 'in word' and the exegesis 'in figure' of the representations of the ark, here necessarily making a clear selection by exempla.
