abstract:
The purpose of this paper is to provide an investigation on the monolingual Chinese dictionaries starting from the emergence of Chinese lexicography up today. Especially in the last decades, following the launch of the journal Lexicographical Studies (Cishu Yanjiu 辞书研究) in 1979 and the establishment of the Chinese Association of Lexicography (Zhongguo Cishu Xuehui 中国辞书学会) in 1992, the number of Chinese dictionaries and the studies about lexicography increased sharply.
