SCIENTIFIC ACTIVITY
The research activity is mainly focused on the following 4 topics:
1) Chemoenzymatic preparation of dietary polyphenols and analogues endowed with relevant antimicrobial, antiviral and antidiabetic activities, study of structure-activity relationships, optimization of biological properties.
2) Development of innovative and eco-sustainable synthetic methodologies (i.e. biocatalysis in batch conditions and in flow reactors) for the synthesis of biologically active compounds interesting from a nutraceutical and pharmaceutical point of view.
3) Design and synthesis of enzymatic inhibitors as novel antifungal and antiparasitic agents. In recent years research has focused on the development of innovative multitarget fungicides for a long-lasting management of the rice blast pathogen.
4) Design and synthesis of competitive and subtype selective NMDA receptor antagonists.
SCIENTIFIC PRODUCTION (2005 – PRESENT)
Andrea Pinto (ORCID ID: 0000-0002-2501-3348) is author of 97 papers in peer-reviewed international journals, with 1354 citations, H index = 21, 340 co-authors (SCOPUS) and presented more than 50 works at national and international conferences as oral communications or poster presentations.
