Abstract:
The text and woodcuts of the edition of Vitruvius by Lucimborgo de Gabiano (Lyon 1523), the first edition of this crucial text for humanism and the history of architecture printed outside Italy, are analysed. A few letters of Lucimborgo to his uncle Giovanni Bartolomeo Gabiano in Venice give new details about the publishing process.
