Abstract:
Lomavren is a mixed language, showing a clear split between lexicon and grammar, spoken by the Armenian Gypsies (Lom or Bosha). The old traditional code of Armenian Bosha, an Indo-Aryan
variety, provides the lexicon, while the territorial language, a variety of Armenian, provides the grammar. The article explores the Armenian inflectional morphology shown by Lomavren, as documented by F. N. Finck at the beginning of the XX century, in order to link it with some Armenian dialect and discusses the identitarian value assumed by Lomavren in Bosha communities.
