The Gaze of Return: Migration,Youth, and the Notion of Failure in Contemporary Tunisia. This project explores the dynamics of reintegration and re- engagement among young Tunisians returning from a migration experience, adopting an approach that uses failure - and its transformative potential - as a powerful heuristic tool. The aim is to identify and analyse the socio-cultural factors shaping the perception of success and failure in the context of mobility, as well as examine strategies of re-adaptation in the context of origin, and/or the choices of re-plan migration. This study is part of the broader research project ""Desperate Lives: The Experience of Failure in the Global Society Between Aspirations, Hopes, and New Awareness"", coordinated by Professor Angela Biscaldi. The project includes a period of fieldwork in the Governorate of Sfax (scheduled for autumn 2025), aimed at conducting a series of semi-structured interviews with key informants, as well as participant observation activities within organizations and institutions involved in the reintegration of young return migrants. To facilitate the development of a local network and to support the international dissemination of the project's objectives within the academic community, the establishment of a hosting agreement (currently in preparation) with the University of Sfax is planned.
