Project The project “Next-Generation Earth Observation (EO) for Anticipatory Drought Risk Management in East African Pastoral Drylands” (NGOMbE) aims at contributing to the improvement, sustainability and scalability of anticipatory drought risk management and financing (DRMF) systems in the African pastoral drylands by addressing a fundamental Earth Observation challenge (co-identified with partners) faced by operational initiatives in Kenya (DEWS-NDMA and IBLI) but also relevant elsewhere: the looming lack of a reliable long-term EO dataset to assess drought impacts on rangeland production (with NDVI or fAPAR) that are the backbone of droughtindex design for op erational anticipatory systems
