Impuls4Action aims to trigger actions to support sustainable development on all levels by providing appropriate tools, raising awareness and finding new models for soil protection. Climate change increases the need for integrative activities and tailor-made instruments concerning soil protection and Green Infrastructure (GI) development. Workshops in pilot areas analyse the needs of target groups and provide the basis for the structure of the toolbox, which is part of the Platform of Knowledge (PoK). Relevant data is collected accompanied by feedback loops with experts and end-users. Awareness raising events in the pilot areas trigger actions focusing on the topics: • contain land take through inner development e.g. re-use and regeneration of settlements; • promote water management specific to Alpine soils; • create preconditions for the restoration and maintenance of multi-functional peatlands.The establishment of the toolbox “less land take” offers the possibility:• to merge existing information;
• to integrate results of on-going projects e.g. “Links4Soils”; • to create cooperation starting from awareness raising events to involvement of all stakeholders concerned.This comprehensive approach on soil protection based on creating a dialogue of different stakeholders will contribute to improve mutual understanding, to harmonize interests and to increase quality of life as well. The project addresses the topic of Soil Protection and supports the Work Plans of AG1, 6 and 7.
