Study of a novel transverse beam profile measurement technique using X - rays Heterodyne Near Field Speckles (HNFS) - Addendum n.2 al Memorandum of Understanding fra CERN e Università degli Studi di Milano

Project
Measurement of the very small transverse beam sizes expected in machines with extremely high beam energies, such as CLIC or FCC-ee, can no longer be performed by the direct imaging of synchrotron radiation, even using X-rays, as diffraction effects become dominant. A possible solution i to use X-ray interferometry to overcome this limitation.
This study will look to use near field speckles as an alternative to traditional interferometry using slits, promising a simpler and more robust measurement.
