The project will study advanced design techniques for intelligent adaptive monitoring systems in environmental applications, by considering various critical issues for an innovative comprehensive, flexible, integrated infrastructure.
Adaptivity and intelligence are fundamental aspects for modern monitoring systems to support effectively their usability in evolving environments, possibly initially partially known or even unknown, and for changing application needs.
The project will focus on sensors management, data processing, and resilience. More specifically it will study:
- sensor self-calibration and self-diagnosis
- dynamic functional adaptation in sensing nodes
- data fusion, feature extraction, and data mining of sensors data
- fault tolerance, resilience and graceful degradation of sensing nodes.
We aim to harmonically integrate these various aspects in a comprehensive design framework.
