La “democrazia illiberale” in Ungheria tra diritto, narrative politiche e COVID-19: elementi di riflessione sulla resilienza delle democrazie in tempi di pandemia

In Hungary, an illiberal reversal has taken place, which has revolved around the adoption of a new constitution and affected its system of checks and balances. This article argues that the law and political narratives were used as the two main tools to achieve this reversal and that this U-turn has expanded decisively during the COVID-19 pandemic. This article analyses the Hungarian reversal examining two different thesis which respond in the opposite way to the question whether the expression illiberal democracy identifies a model with its own peculiarities.
