Tolstoy from Death to Life The work is the introductory essay to a new Italian translation of Lev Tolstoy’s 1887 essay About life. It illustrates the origins, the stylistic peculiarities and the content of this writing, which states that “man’s life cannot be death”. The second part is devoted to a survey of Tolstoy’s major narrative works from the point of view of the pervasive theme of death, by which the continuity between the narrative and philosophical part of Tolstoy’s oeuvre is proved.
