abstract:
After some preliminary considerations on the historia of Peter the Patrician (identified with
the Anonymus post Dionem) and its possible reconstruction, this paper aims at analyzing the
fragment concerning the Persian sack of Antioch in AD 253 (AnpD F 1 Müller); through the
comparison with one of the new texts of Dexippus that was discovered in the manuscript
Vindobonensis historicus graecus 73 and devoted to the capture of Philippopolis by the Goths in
AD 250/251 (f. 195), the issue of social conflicts arising in besieged cities is investigated.
