The essay offers a summary of the evolution of the relationship between indigenous peoples and nation-state of Argentina. Then, it focuses on the current situation of the protection and the implementation of indigenous peoples rights over their ancestral lands and natural resources in the context of the current law as well as the government's promises to mark the Bicentennial (May 2010), and the economic development goals set by the last decade governments of Néstor Kirchner and Cristina Fernández.
