Gender Empowerment to Nurture the Environment: Sustainability and Innovation along the agri-food System (GENESIS)
Progetto “This project aims to introduce a gender perspective, currently missing from the principles guiding the ecological transition, into the agri-food system, which is called upon to feed an ever-increasing population and has a massive impact on global greenhouse gas emissions. The project will focus on three different stages of the Italian agri-food system (innovation, agricultural production, and food consumption), which are still characterized by significant gender gaps, and within which women can act as leading environmental actors: women as scientists, women as farmers, and women as consumers. Investigating the extent to which women as scientists can develop innovations for sustainable agriculture, women as farmers can implement these innovative measures for sustainable agriculture, and women as consumers can accept and implement sustainable diets is the inspiring, albeit challenging, ultimate goal of this project.
