Perception of screening for Type 1 diabetes in families of children with higher risk of developing type 1 diabetes
Progetto The aim of this project is to screen for T1D autoantibodies (GAD, IAA, IA2, ZnT8) children and adolescent from 2 to 13 years old, with coeliac disease, autoimmune thyroiditis and first-degree relatives of subjects with clinical T1D in follow-up at the pediatric gastroenterology, endocrinology and diabetology outpatient clinics of the Buzzi Children’s Hospital of Milano. The screening process for T1D autoantibodies, particularly in children and adolescents, can be a stressful and emotionally taxing experience for both the subjects and their families. The role of a psychologist in this process is vital for managing psychological challenges, providing emotional support, and fostering a sense of control and understanding among those involved.
