Abstract:
The reaction of [Na2(thf)4P4Mes4] (1) (Mes = 2,4,6-Me3C6H2) with 1,3-dimethylimidazolin-2-ylidene (Me2Im) or the corresponding imidazolium iodide ([Me2ImH]I) leads to P-P bond cleavage and formation of the carbene-phosphinidene adduct (Me2Im)PMes (2), which was characterized by NMR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, and X-ray crystallography.
