Sophie Calle : Autoritratto allo specchio: abbi cura di te

In 2007 the France Pavilion in Giardini of the Biennale di Venezia was occupied by Prenez soin de vous, a work by Sophie Calle. This project was based on an email received by the artist from her lover (in which the man puts an end to their relationship) that Calle submits to one hundred and seven women, asking them to analyze and interpret it according to their specific professional skills. We chose this installation to propose an insight into the French artist's research by reading and interpreting it in the light of our theme, the mirror: "reflections and doublings". Our aim is to contextualize this work in her artistic production in relation to the role of writing and storytelling and the use of art as a therapeutic tool, underlining how Prenez soin de vous represents a fundamental fragment key to understand and reconstruct the big and elusive self-portrait painted and repainted, written and rewritten, which characterizes, through the autobiographical trigger, a significant part of her research in a contemporary anamorphosis.
