Abstract:
Recent Greek ceramic imports from the excavations carried out by the University of Milan at the “monumental complex” of Tarquinia1 allow us to compare the situation of the inhabited site with that of the necropolis, also from this point of view. These imports, starting from the second quarter of the eight century BC, are commonly related to various Aegean areas and were found in different contexts of both sites. Therefore this contemporaneous presence of pottery can now be observed in
relation to possible new or traditional models in rituals and ceremonies and could improve our knowledge about the role of this ancient Etruscan town, regards to a particular moment of the phenomenon
of the Greek expansion in the Western Mediterranean2, which dates back to the first half of the eight century BC.
